What a wonderful book full of mystery, adventure, time travel to who knows where and violence with a smidge of romance. I was sucked into this story just like the people are sucked onto the island, it gives you a feeling like you're in an Edgar G. Ricebroughs movie only better!! I loved the way she messed the characters together with the plots and twists. No spoilers here, get the book!!I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal/sci-fi/ YA

great story great characters the author easily immerses you into this wild ride

The characters are poorly developed, the plot is full of holes, and the author should have hired an editor before trying to publish this travesty.
No plausible explanation is given for the existence of populated islands unknown to humans, and the Joutone culture is poorly developed. The individual characters are one-dimensional and the author seemed to change her mind on the basic personalities of each part way through without any actual growth on the part of the characters.
The grammar and spelling throughout the book are atrocious. One character in particular starts out with the name "Pierce" but has his name changed to "Pearce" before the book was halfway done. Misplaced punctuation marks and extra words are also commonplace. The transition from one point of view to another is often clumsy and which character is speaking during dialog is not always apparent.
I am not sure why this book is listed under Norse and Viking, even as a fantasy book, since it has absolutely nothing to do with the Norse culture other than the main character's original destination was Iceland.
Finally, the author spends so much time describing sexual encounters between characters that this book should have been categorized as erotica.
The story took me on a captivating journey into a totally different and mysterious world. The adventures of Doctor Abbott left me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out if he would survive his encounters with the Joutone warriors and civilization. This intriguing story is an absolute page turner!! I became completely immerse and I highly recommend this AWESOME read!
I went into this book with low expectations and the author surprised me. I am looking forward to the second book in the series.
